Stories are memorable and allow the interviewer to get to know you on a deeper personal level. It also proves that you have evidence for your claims when you can back it up with an actual example.

Your credibility is negated when you have to look at your resume to answer a question, and it’s even worse if you say something that contradicts your resume. Bring a clean copy with you to the interview, but study it beforehand to be prepared. You should also know about the job you are applying for so poke around the company website beforehand. A lot of interviewers will ask you directly if you have had a chance to look at the website. You should be able to respond with a confident yes. This is helpful anyways though so that you know the basics about what the company is looking for and what the work environment is like.

When it comes to evaluating a job interview, employers are looking for a personality. They have already approved your resume and qualifications, so they are looking for that extra edge over everyone else. Of course, they want to hear more about your past work experiences to make sure that you are qualified too, but the best way to rock that interview is to show them the genuine, personable individual that you are.
